In the new era of smartphones, it is quite difficult for feature-rich phones to exist. Initially, the one mobile company on which most people depended upon was Nokia because of their durability and new features. But somehow Nokia could not keep pace with the market with other companies surpassing it easily. Nokia has now tried to cement back their position and regain their lost trust by launching their new phone ‘Nokia X3-02’ which has a unique Touch and Type concept.
Features and Specifications
Design and Hardware – Nokia X3-02 has a plastic body with metal covered battery. It comes with a 2.4 inches QVGA resistive touchscreen and 240 x 320 px display. It has a 16 key unique keypad with four rows and four columns and a different key placement. Proximity Sensor and earpiece can also be seen in the display. Various shortcut keys are also available helping do work faster. The phone has 840 mAh 3.7 V Li-Ton Battery with 2mm charging port on the top edge paired with a micro USB connector, a 3.5mm headphone jack, volume controls and a button for controlling the locking mechanism.
Variety of Colors – Nokia X3-02 is available in a variety of colors which include Dark Metal which is purely business class, Pink and Lilac for the youth and White and Blue being evergreen.
Multimedia – Nokia X3-02 sports a 5-Megapixel fixed focus camera meant for taking snaps at 2592 x 1944 with 4x digital zoom. The phone has the ability to play multiple audio and video formats. It captures videos in VGA format at 15fps which is just mediocre.
Memory Status – The phone has an internal memory of about 50mb which can be expanded upto16GB with a microSD. But the phone faces some problems with a memory card of more than 4GB.
Connectivity – The phone is loaded with Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, GPRS, EGPRS, 3G and Wi-Fi b/g/n. It has both Nokia Browser and Opera Mini. The default browser has FlashLite 3.0 and WAP 2.0 support.
Software – Nokia X3-02 runs on S40 6th edition FP1 UI which has been optimized for a touch based operation. The long menus are a bit annoying as they take time to execute the commands. Directional keypad has been removed and movements are made in UI touch optimized. The phone also comes with Nokia Messaging Services 3.0, IM via Ovi Chat, Flash Messaging, Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging and MMS/SMS editor.
Price – Cost of Nokia X3-02 is approximately 125 EURO.
Drawbacks
No dedicated camera key
No GPS
No Auto Focus Camera
No QWERTY keypad
Odd Key Placement
Small Screen Size for touch phones
Final Verdict –
One can get better phones in the range that Nokia X3-02 is offering. With a reasonable touchscreen and hardware, the phone is recommended for those who want a low cost durable phone which is easy to use. But Nokia has not lived upto the expectations of those who want a phone with all the necessary features like GPS and Multitasking at such a price. With the changing technology, people are drifting their attention more towards smartphones. So it will be difficult to recommend Nokia X3-02 over other mobile phones available in the market.
